Giving thanks. . .

harpsmaller.jpg

Jill Harris, a gifted performing harpist and also my harp teacher, sent me this photo. She was performing at a wedding held on the beach. This little note accompanied the picture:

The picture was taken on the South shore near Desable, (PEI). There was a horse and cart which brought the whole wedding party down to the shore!

The minister and I were the only ones on the shore waiting for their arrival – the only two who were wearing footwear while the rest of the wedding party and guests ( with dressed up dogs) were barefeet.  Meanwhile a few strangers were swimming near by watching the event.
I am giving thanks to the Lord because I now own – yes own – a beautiful harp exactly like the one in the picture. And I have the most talented harpist on PEI teaching me how to make beautiful music. He is good. He loves when we dream.

Sing out your thanks to the Lord;sing praises to our God with a harp. Ps 147.7

  1. Madelaine’s harp is on the truck for delivery today!!! Will it come? Will five years of waiting come to an end today? We are filled with eager anticipation (anxiety? hyperactive wondering?)I love Jesu Joy. On the harp? Bliss. So glad to know your harp dreams have come true.Diane

  2. Yes Kim – my harp is a Celtic or folk harp. I am learning to play from Silvia Woods’ book "Learn to Play the Celtic Harp". Right now I am working on "Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring", "The Ashgrove" and "Wild Mountain Thyme".

  4. I remember when this was just a dream and when you took those first steps…how encouraging this post is to me…I need that so much today…knowing that the Giver of Dreams fulfills them.

  5. What a gorgeous picture! And how special to be able to make beautiful music on a harp like that for someone’s special day. And you have one? Wow! I know you are very excited to own your very own harp! You will have to have your friend Rinda take a picture of you so we all can see you at play. πŸ™‚
