Trailing Clouds of Glory: Spiritual Values in Children’s Literature

 by  Madeleine L’Engle.

I unearthed this from the bottom of a pile of tattered Harlequin romances.

She won my Island heart at the very beginning by writing about the mysterious “flash” experienced by Emily Starr in Emily of New Moon.

Reading this book is like sitting down with an old friend  and listening to her read favourite  passages from beloved childhood books.

But I keep wanting to jump into the book and say “Have you read this? And don’t forget this one!”

Wouldn’t that be fun? To have a cup of tea with the creator of the Austins and the Murrays? And chat about faith and children’s books?

*happy sigh*
