Fall Y’all!

I know the Fall Y’all! Bloggy Giveaway has been generating a lot of excitement but I didn’t really expect the trees around our house to get in on the action! 🙂

This noise from this tree falling woke us around 5 am.

Look to the left in this picture. Yes, that’s my clothesline that was just fixed last week. Three trees  went down together – they landed within a few feet of our bedroom window.

When all the damage was calculated, we had lost 18 trees. Five more than we lost in 2002’s Hurricane Juan.

The guys  came by with chainsaws and tractor to help with the clean-up. We do have good friends and neighbours!

There is a story to be told about that little grey tractor. But I’ll save it for another entry.

I think I’ve had enough excitement for one day!

Thank you all for your prayers and concern  – we’re very thankful that no one was hurt in the storm.

PS – Don’t forget to drop by tomorrow for the Fall Y’all! Bloggy Giveaway winner announcement.

  1. Wow, looks like you Islanders got hit a little harder than we did. Here in the valley, not too much happened. We didn’t even lose power. Glad that no one got hurt though!

  2. Thanks Ellen – we did lose power for about 12 hours but most of it was through the night.Nova Scotia was hit a lot worse than we were. Some of them will be without power until Tues night.Hi Suzanne and Kim – I wish I could figure out why the pictures don’t show up for you – I looked at my blog in both IE and Firefox and they show up on this computer. There are some blogs I have to view in IE instead of Firefox in order to see the pictures. What browsers do you use?Cathy – how lovely for you to have the Anne books ahead of you – I think you will really enjoy them. Then there are the Emily books, Marigold, Jane, so many fun characters to meet – don’t forget The Blue Castle – one of my favourites!

  3. I am glad you had only minimal damage.I will say your bloggy giveaway enticed me enough to talk about it to my girlfriends – several had said how much they loved the story Anne of Green Gables (sheepishly sharing I have not read it, but intend to!) and that it was based around PEI – and how neat it would be to take a literary field trip a thousand or more miles away!
