crops and competitions

We are not the only ones

competing for the apple crop!

Mmm mm! (click to enlarge)

It’s a beautiful day here on the Island ~ the sun is shining and the temperature will be 16 C (62 F) by this afternoon. A golden Indian Summer day – a rare treat in November.

I have my women’s Bible Study this morning but this afternoon there is only one thing on the agenda for me and my friend.

Kayaking!

And if the water temperature is even slightly bearable …

Well you never know.

As you folks know, I get my love of water from my mom.

In her later years when we were all grown, she and her best friend, who was also our next door neighbour and like a second mother to us, swam together almost daily in the summer. One year they swam on Thanksgiving weekend – the second Monday of October for Canadians – and they were so proud of themselves! They crowed about it!  Just like Peter Pan.

Mom and FleaAnd so the competition was born.

Every year we would compete to see who would get the very last swim of the year.

I know they are in heaven now so perhaps the theology is a mite shaky,

but I wouldn’t be one bit surprised

if they are still keeping track!

A November swim …

Wouldn’t that be a coup!

🙂

Have a wonderful day my friends!

I’m off to get my swimming gear together.

  1. Oh I love the squirrel shot! Swimming in November?! Wow! I want to hear about that one!By the way the picture on my verse today is a multiple exposure. The heart is from an airshow in Boston and the church is in Dallas Texas!
