A Glorious October!

Welcome to the Oct 15th edition of

It was October again when Anne was ready to go back to school–a glorious October, all red and gold, with mellow mornings when the valleys were filled with delicate mists as if the spirit of autumn had poured them in for the sun to drain–amethyst, pearl, silver, rose, and smoke-blue. The dews were so heavy that the fields glistened like cloth of silver and there were such heaps of rustling leaves in the hollows of many-stemmed woods to run crisply through. The Birch Path was a canopy of yellow and the ferns were sear and brown all along it. There was a tang in the very air that inspired the hearts of small maidens . . .

  1. I have a confession to make: I used to get SO jealous of your autumns when I lived in Texas. Since moving to Utah with all our fall colors, I have overcome that particular sin; I now look at your pictures and just think that we are both blessed.

  2. Love your photos. They are eye-candy for me. I don't take many photos cuz I don't live in a pretty place. Plus it is fun to see someplace so different than where I live. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I really enjoyed your faves in photos!! I posted lots of fall pics my self….i just love October and the beautiful colors God blesses us with…..oh, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I love your pictures and your occasional postings of Anne. I read one of LMM's books from the Anne series when my Mom was in hospice and found myself buying all the rest of the series to reread. It is so wonderful to read books full of such wonderful descriptions and a complete lack of the problems of the world today. There is something so reflective of life and so relaxing to see "road" photos. Thank you for this weeks set.

Dear Kathie, I've been enjoying your blog for a couple of years now. I've been an islander; oh dear, let me rephrase that, I've been privileged to live on PEI for some 20 years now! But for the last 4.5 years we have had to divide our time between a townhouse in Bedford NS and our lovely country home in the hills of Bonshaw. Everytime I had to drive away from PEI, I would morn so pitifully and it would take me a couple of days to adjust to the rush of life in the city. Then I stumbled upon your blog, now when I'm away I have a link to life in PEI that I can turn to it whenever I am homesick. I look forward to the day, in the not so distant future, when I'm back full time! There's no place like home, especially when home is PEI!

  6. Fall is beautiful at PEI … sigh … I don't know when would be the best time to come there, all the seasons look beautiful! I especially love the photo with water sparkling. And you know how I feel about road pictures … yours looks so inviting!

Beautiful pictures! Just starting to write my first Friday's Fave Five so I thought I would checkout what everyone is writing first.

  8. Ahh beautiful October on the island. I'm glad you know how to celebrate the beautiful days. I love Anne. Did I tell you our daughter Katie wants to walk down the aisle at her wedding to the theme from Anne of Green Gables?

  9. Happy belated Thanksgiving to you, my friend :)Lovely pictures, I have had a hankering to re-read Anne yet again…it may be time….I've lost count of the number of times I have read the series…Have a blessed weekendNiki
