FFF ~ celebrations!

Hi there! And welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, Susanne‘s weekly blessing list.

So many things have happened over the last few weeks, I hardly know where to start – but Friday’s Fave Five is a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on a few of the high points.

1. Brimming with happy times, the highlight, of course, was the wedding of our son Robbie and his sweet bride, Dorothy.

left to right – Hyekoo, Robbie, my sweet mil, Andrew, Lorna and BrianWe didn’t know if they would be able to come until a week before the wedding – so it was extra special to have them home. Also Roger’s sister, Lorna (who was my maid of honour) and her husband Brian, their son, Joel, and wife Kara made the trip from the States. And my sister Deb, husband David and children, Meg and Colin, as well as my niece Kate all came from away. Not to forget many of Dorothy’s family. It was a grand celebration!

4. Lots of help!! Oh. my. goodness! What wonderful friends and family we have!  Dorothy, Robbie, Roger and I had so much help to get the place ready for the wedding. Everyone pitched in. From wedding showers and the rehearsal dinner, to painting, baking, lawn work, flowers and set-up of the wedding tent.

Everything looked so lovely – perfectly suited to Dorothy’s theme “A Secret Garden Wedding”. Yes! based on the beloved book – notice the keys embossed on the tags? Dorothy included so many exquisite details: antique keys, hand-printed stone place-markers, hand-made flags, lanterns, twinkle lights, family wedding pictures, even a pinata for the little ones. I’ve never been to such a beautiful, and lovingly planned, wedding! (and, of course, I’m not biased in the least!  *grin*!! I’ll save those sweet touches for another blog post.)

photo credit ~ mtwasnidgeDorothy’s Dad made a gorgeous, gluten-free, chocolate zucchini wedding cake, I baked and froze desserts for a few weeks, and friends and family brought all kinds of cakes, cookies, squares and sweets. Dorothy made little tags with the name of the family member or friend who made the dessert. And we included family favourites like my mother’s sugar cookies and Nannie’s Scotch cookies. It was sweet in every way!

Thank you for coming by and sharing our joy!

Happy weekend!

with love,
