Susanne and the FFF gang like to count their blessings every Friday

and one of the biggest blessings I enjoy, is living on an Island that is surrounded by 500 miles of beaches!

If you’ve been visiting “A Sparrow’s Home” for a while, you know that I am a hard-core beach girl!

It’s all my mom’s fault.

So welcome to the first (of probably many!) 2012 FFF beach edition:

1. PEI’s beaches  made Yahoo Travel/Leisure column – Red sand beaches seem normal to me, but, apparently, not to everyone else!

Thunder Cove PEI

Check out Yahoo’s travel article “The world’s strangest beaches” for some unusual beaches!

2. If you don’t like red sand, you could join me here at one of my favourite light sand beaches – Pamure Island.

or we could head up to a white sand beach Basinhead – an hour’s drive but worth every minute!

3.The water is still too chilly for a “comfortable” swim – but wait a couple of weeks and I’ll be doing this!

Ahhhh . . . .

4. Tomorrow there’s a baby shower for Josie Mae – and this is what she’ll be getting from Nannie:

Coleman UV Guard Beach Shelter

I have to help my wee grandgirlie become a beach baby, don’t I?!

5. Won’t she be a cute one?

This picture was taken by Katherine, who had her own little beachgirlie a couple of weeks ago.

Katherine is my beach buddy Rinda’s daughter.

So now there’s 2 little beach babies and 2 beach grannies. Does that add up to a happy summer or what?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend everyone! And thanks for dropping in!

with love,

Oh the fun you will have with those little girls digging in that sand and swimming in that water. The red beach is beautiful.

Oh! I had no idea about the red sand beach. So interesting. And now I understand why there are so many beach photos 🙂

  4. PEI beaches are definitly beautiful. Gorgeous photos and little baby is adorable having a nap. The beach shelter is a super idea for your new grandbaby! I hope you have lots of beautiful beach days this summer.

I don't think I have ever seen or heard of red sand, but in the southern US we have red clay soil. The beaches I am used to are a lighter tan, almost white color. I lived near a beach when I was growing up and miss it sometimes. That little beach tent is cute! And that baby photo is just adorable.

  6. Laura says:

That red sand does not look like our beaches here in S FL! But it's beautiful. Oh, that sweet baby picture! Have a great week.

  7. jill says:

Red sand! Cool! Sounds like you are raring to dig into summer…how many days left of spring anyway? Josie looks so serene in that picture. Good practice for laying out at the beach when she's older!

  8. Jody says:

Loviin' those beach babies! You and Rinda are going to have fun swapping stories about granny-ing.

I don't care about the color of the sand, if the sea is blue and the sun shines ! On the Canary Islands the sand is black !!
