Friday's Favourites, winter

Friday’s Favourites

Hi there and welcome to Friday’s Fave Five!

1. Our week started with a massive two day blizzard

I’m thankful that we were all home safe. And I’m especially thankful to be married to a great shoveller!

We had a cosy time of it ~ chatting around the woodstove, reading and watching movies, but by the second day we were happy that our close neighbours braved the elements  for a visit. Everyone was beginning to suffer from a touch of cabin fever! By late afternoon, the snow and wind had died down and we were able to get outside. Even digging out felt good! (so I’m told 🙂

2.  The post storm sky was especially beautiful.

3. Paper Lions are touring in the States this week so I did some extra babysitting to help out Kathleen while John is away. Josie has acquired some new skills and she was happy to show them off.

Clapping her hands!

Playing her xylophone

Saying “uh oh” !

4. Valentine flowers for Sarah and me from Roger. What a sweetheart!

5. For my final favourite, a (belated) Happy Valentine’s song from the boys – they were in Marysville, Ohio when they recorded it. The song is a family favourite sung at every wedding and special occasion requiring a little extra love 🙂 I think John wrote it in grade 5 or 6.

Happy weekend everyone!

with love,

Kathie – thanks for you comments!! I’ve been enjoying reading some of your recent posts. Your "Paper Lions" are amazing – so, so talented they are and I love the Valentine’s tribute they recorded for you!!! Your granddaughter is super precious. It’s cold here too again today but I am going to bundle up and take a walk for sure. It has been a good old fashioned winter here in Ontario as well. Have a fun "storm day" and stay warm and cozy. Hope the pizza turns out……

  3. What a sweet song! And what a sweet girl! That was some snow storm! Wow, I can see why you just snuggled in by the wood stove and stayed home. I remember living in Illinois and needing a good shoveler. It’s an important skill to have.Frozen salt water? I thought salt water didn’t freeze–well, at least until it gets really really cold. No I didn’t know you can’t smell the salt when it’s frozen. I promise I’ll go down to the beach this week and take deep breaths, just for you 🙂

Oh, I loved that song — fun to hear your boy in his band. And his charming daughter. You’ll need another grandbaby soon to keep from completely spoiling this one! Glad the blizzard is over. Gorgeous colors in your skies.

  5. My oldest in RI got about two feet of snow and it took him and his neighbors some time to dig out. The sky afterward is gorgeous! Josie is so sweet. The flowers are beautiful! Love the song — it’s neat that there are years of family memories tied in with it. I love the guitarist’s ready smile.

  6. My niece who is in Vet school up there had pics of your storm…you all had a LOT of snow!! Here in Albany we only got 6.7 inches altho they predicted us to get 14. I am sooo thankful for an awesome hubby who shovels, too! Beautiful pics of your Josie……how precious she is! And yay for your son! May the Lord bless them as they tour! Enjoy your weekend!!
