fff ~ September gifts

Hi and welcome to Friday’s Fave Five!

Congratulations are in order to Susanne, the hostess of our weekly blessing list. She’s hosted 300 Friday Fave Five posts!! What a milestone. Thanks so much Susanne for the inspiration and encouragement to count our blessings every Friday.

September is drawing to a close and autumn is just beginning to unfold here on the Island. Treasures and gifts are all around. It’s hard to know where to start counting.

1. We haven’t had a frost yet although some nighttime temperatures have dropped very close. I feel blessed that I can still enjoy “the last rose of summer” in early autumn.

Last_roses2. We had such a fun gathering last Saturday with my childhood girlfriends. An afternoon of laughter, catching up, laughter, stories, laughter, good food and did I forget, laughter?Β  πŸ™‚ Can’t wait til next year girls!

3. September chores ~ check off mustard pickles. 30 bottles should keep the family happy πŸ˜‰

4. An American gold finch photo shoot. I love these little birds ~ such cheery company!

American_finch_collage_sept5. Treasuring baby smiles andΒ  storytimes.Β  These precious moments slip by too quickly.

Baby_smiles2_sept14We have some wonderful weather forecast for the weekend – sunny skies and warm temperatures.

Astors_Sept14I have my camera battery all charged – there’s some fall photo ops just waiting for me, plus a family gathering for a belated birthday celebration for Sarah. I’ve heard rumours of a campfire and s’mores. Fun times!

Thanks so much for visiting.

Happy weekend!

with love,

  1. I would recommend your blog to anyone feeling low, or sad about the world. Your enthusiasm and appreciation for life are wonderful. As always, I loved all these photos. You are so right about the baby moments slipping away too quickly. They change from day to day. I also love that you and your friends get together like this. Just terrific. Do they all live fairly close by?

    • Thanks Nan! That’s my hope and prayer for this blog. Your encouraging words mean a lot to me! All my babies live near except my oldest boy and his wife and brand-new baby girl – they’re in the UK. We miss them so much but we’re looking forward to a wonderful visit this Christmas!!

  2. I hope you enjoyed that birthday celebration–with s’mores! And oh my, I *heart* those finch photos. Keep the pictures coming! I haven’t even had my camera out of its case in over a week–I need photo love to keep me going πŸ™‚

  3. What a special group you have meeting every year! That is really a blessing! You are right in that those precious years with little ones goes entirely too quickly. I even see it in the dayhome kids. They grow through their stages so fast! Enjoy every moment with your grand babies. After a week of summer temps it’s quite cool this weekend.

  4. What a huge blessing to be able to meet up with childhood friends each year! Glad you all shared so much laughter. I always love visiting your blog and seeing all the lovely pictures. πŸ™‚ The American Gold Finch is such a sweet little bird.

  5. Your photos are just lovely, especially the ones of your little people. They grow up so quickly, don’t they? How nice that your group go childhood friends is able to reconnect each year. I hope you have a great weekend. πŸ™‚

  6. Such sweet little ones! I love the one especially the one with your granddaughter looking at picture books. I think that is a great way to spend time.

So glad you and your friends can get together! It’s awesome that you have kept in touch all thse years.

Love the pic of the little goldfinch! You are so talented at catching birds on film.

    • Story time with Josie is our favourite activity – and Oscar is really starting to get into books too. And I’m a retired school librarian – it’s a match made in heaven πŸ™‚

  7. We’ve had some cool mornings but it is still pretty warm here. I am looking forward to the weather cooling down a bit more. I’m still enjoying some roses, too.

Baby smiles made my list this week, too! Such sweet faces!
