Hello and welcome to the Friday blessing list. It’s been a very full week! I’m so thankful for Susanne‘s inspiration to look back over the week and count the blessings.

This week I’ve had a few adventures – isn’t it good to have fun and to laugh? There’s been a lot of laughter here at a sparrow’s home this week. Let me tell you, it’s good medicine!

1. Our annual Thanksgiving feast and hike. First we enjoy the main course  –  chicken, potatoes, turnip, carrots, green beans, corn, broccoli bake, gravy, cranberries and mustard pickles and then we head out to make room for dessert for our hike 🙂Thanksgiving collageWe missed Nora, who had to work, and Andrew, Hyekoo and Kinsey in the UK. But, it was lovely to have Roger’s parents join us for dinner.

2. Apple orchard adventures with Sarah, John, Kathleen, Josie and Isaiah

orchard_collage2JK_fam_orchard1_smFun times!

3. My girl is having quite an adventure with a couple of her buddies. Here’s her facebook status this morning – all the way from Iceland!

If you’re gonna fly overnight, nothing is better than spending the afternoon soaking in the Blue Lagoon. 40 degree water. Facial scrubs. Saunas. Perfection. ‪#‎bluelagoon‬‪#‎adventuresiniceland‬

4. Another adventure a little closer to home. Kayaking twice this week!

Camerons_kayak_collageI had my phone for these shots – so I thought I’d take a selfie. Oh, you would have chuckled to see me try to take a shot without getting my thumb over the lens or dropping the phone in the water. Awkward!  How do kids do it?? 😉 But, I’m so happy on the water I had to record the moment.

5. The next kayak adventure was equally delightful though totally different. We headed over to a little river – a place where Roger loves to fly fish.

Kayaking_Morell_smMy intrepid kayaking buddy was with me again. Bumps, bruises, blisters, sore elbows and wet feet don’t deter us.

Kayaking_Morell2_smSuch a lovely paddle down the river lined with autumn’s glorious colours – deep green, burnt gold, lemon yellow, brilliant scarlet and fiery orange-red  – all mirrored in the water.

Kayaking_Morell3_smSo quiet and still – only the rustle of wind in the leaves, the call of  wild geese high overhead and the occasional splash of a trout leaping to the surface.

Kayaking_Morell5and such a fresh, damp, woodsy smell – dying ferns, spicy evergreens and the fallen leaves on the mossy ground. It’s a soul tonic.

KAyaking_Morell7smYou can almost feel your soul stretch and grow in the incredible peace and beauty.

Kayak_gloryIt’s impossible to take all this wonder in. I can only say thank You, what a glorious Creator You are.

Well . . . thank you for joining me this week. I hope you can get outside this weekend and enjoy an autumn adventure.

with love,

Love the pics. Especially the family around the table!
And on today’s post ( I could not find the comment box for some reason) …your precious little ones… I got sweet chills knowing you will soon see the one so far away.

What a glorious week filled with family and walks and kayaking. Gorgeous scenery you photographed and how wonderful that you are still out kayaking!

Oh, those autumn foliage (and kayak) photos are beautiful. I never get to see the fall colors. Here we know it’s autumn because it’s foggy in the mornings. Everything is either brown (drought) or the usual bougainvillea pink and green.
    Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

Those family photos are a treasure — so glad God has put you all together.

Blessings upon blessings delivered in beauty and love! What an awesome week! (I so would love to paddle down that color banked river too!)

I love your line, “You can almost feel your soul stretch and grow in the incredible peace and beauty.” So well-said and lovely. And the photo of your family Thanksgiving dinner looks just like a Norman Rockwell moment in time. Thank you for your blog that depicts all that is good.

Happy thanksgiving to you all! I love, kayaking as you know and the last time we went was 2 days before Dave’s heart attack. We won’t be able to go again until spring 2015. But…..we are starting to plan our 25 th anniversary and I’m hoping it is on PEI!!!! love all your photos! Enjoy the weekend!

I truly love how you and your family enjoy life together!

The kayaking sounds so peaceful! My husband and sons enjoy doing that. What lovely views!

I am not good at selfies. Maybe my arms aren’t long enough, but my face always looks a little distorted when I tale my own picture.

Your Thanksgiving celebration looks and sounds lovely.

I love the idea of a soul tonic! That is exactly what nature does for me, too.

Awesome photos once again. It seems you had a magical week of everything good!

  11. All such beautiful and fun photos. The ones in the kayak though are so pretty and relaxing looking. If I was in a kayak, it wouldn’t be relaxing though. Haha. I don’t think I’d be comfortable at all. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your island province.

  12. Melanie says:

Wow your Thanksgiving feast sounds awesome!! You have a beautiful family.

I’ve never been kayacking but it looks like fun…a little, ha ha. I was in a canoe once and pretty scared.

    Your pictures are beautiful!!
