Friday’s Blessing list

Welcome to Friday’s blessing list. The end of February is almost here. I think I can hear a collective sigh of relief across the Island. It’s been a stormy, blustery, long month for all that it’s the shortest month of the year. It can be challenging to look for the blessings when the winters are hard but then, I enjoy a good challenge ๐Ÿ˜‰

1.ย  I’ve discovered that rarely is anyone neutral about winter – there are generally two prevailing attitudes. Sophie and Mila display them perfectly.Sophie_feb_snow-collage2Mila_Feb_collage
and it’s also true that the happy dog camp like to tease (or torment, depending on perspective) the grumpy cat camp. sophie_mila_feb_snow_collage
I really am thankful that most of the time I fall into the happy dog camp. I enjoy winter. (not in spring, mind you, but that’s another post)

2. One thing that really is filling me up with happiness this week is the morning light. It’s so gorgeous.

I usually wake quite early and now the sky is beginning to brighten around 6:30am.

I love the long blue shadows stretching across the snow.

3. and the evening light is equally lovely. What a gift ~ every. single. day.ย  ~ even if sometimes it’s hidden behind the clouds.

4. My kayaking/photography buddy and I made a trek up to the north shore of the Island to scope out the situation.

Oh hello – we’re frozen in!

It may be a stretch to believe it, but in a month we’ll be here.

Yay!

5. Our church is sending off our Guatemala mission team this afternoon. They’ll be joining our daughter Sarah, and our good friends and mission team leaders, Graham and Joanne – they’ve been in Guatemala with another mission team for the past ten days. John, Kathleen and Isaiah are on the team leaving today. Josie will be staying half of the time with Kathleen’s parents and half with us. (fun times ahead!!!)

I’d be so grateful for your prayers for them, and the whole team, as they minister in Guatemala. If you’d like to follow the adventures, the link to their blog and prayer calendar is below. Thanks!

Here’s the link to the blog – Guatemala Bound 2015

and here’s the daily prayer calendar.

Thanks so much for coming by this week! I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Don’t forget to pop over to Susanne’s for more Friday favourites.

Happy weekend!

with love,

PS – a little facebook smile from thisย  week.

  1. I must confess to being in the grumpy cat camp when it comes to winter. Probably a good thing I live where I do. However, your photos are wonderful and I love seeing winter from your perspective.

  2. Ha! Great illustration of the winter love/hate dichotomy! Good thing you have an outlet here on the blog for your winter-love ๐Ÿ™‚ Praying that the G-team is able to accomplish all that God intends.

  3. Your pictures make the cold and dreariness of winter not even seem like they are there. Even the one of the beach all snowed in! Beautiful. Love the happy dog and grumpy cat comparison! LOL. My dog is definitely the happy dog of winter. He thinks all the snow is there just for him to frolic in!

  5. I love how you embrace Winter Kathie! Your pictures are just stunning. Such a sweet picture of Josie consoling her little brother …. your upcoming one on one with her will be such fun! Praying for the team (thanks for the link) and for you as you speak at the retreat. May the beautiful morning light bring much inspiration for your day to come!

Such winter beauty that I enjoy seeing from the comfort of my couch! It really makes for some beautiful photos. Love your morning light. Ha, that’s funny about the two attitudes…so true. I don’t think you can be neutral about that much snow. That’s great that you have family ministering in Guatemala. Enjoy the babysitting. Praying right now for the Guatemala team!
