Sweet September

Welcome to Friday’s Blessing List!

We had a few cooler days last week and I thought perhaps the Island had made the transition to fall but, no, I was wrong. This week we had some of the warmest temperatures of the whole summer! So what does that mean??

1. Bonus Beach days!

5. Garden update – we’re enjoying fresh produce  every day. Lots of greens, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, yellow and green beans, beets and potatoes.

Our carrots are a disappointment. They’re so small. But, we’ll have a bumper crop of squash.

Roasted squash and apple soup – a simple and cozy supper for when the nights get cooler and the fire’s crackling in the kitchen stove. I’m looking forward to it!

What are you looking forward to this fall?

Thanks so much for joining me this week!

Many blessings,

with love,

I had to scroll back and forth a bit between the wedding and family photo! What fun! We also have a 10-year anniversary couple in our family, but she would not be fitting into her wedding dress now, expecting a fourth child. Who would have guessed?

  2. We hit 90* here today, but the temps are sinking. Expecting just 50* tomorrow for a high. We take the days God gives. I made gingerbread today. So yummy and fall-ish.

Oh those lovely warm days at the end of summer!!! Your pictures are amazing and your family is growing by leaps and bounds. Your DIL fits into her wedding gown after 3 kids and 10 years of marriage – wow! Josie is so sweet. I love seeing the red sand in the sand box. Keep enjoying your perfect place in this beautiful country.

I just love reading your posts. It’s like going on a mini vacation to the most beautiful, peaceful place. I would to have a recipe for the apple squash soup. I’m a fairly new lover of winter, especially butternut, squash.

  5. Hi Kathy! Time does pass so quickly! Hard to believe your grandchildren have grown so much. I know you enjoy them. I DO remember that wedding post 10 years ago! Lovely garden photos and looks like a delicious soup. I’m looking forward to going to visit my new little grandson the end of October….he was born early at 24 weeks in April and just came home from NICU after 132 days. So far, so good. What a wonderful God we have to give us this precious gift when things looked quite scary.

    • Oh my goodness Deb! That must have been a difficult time for you all, especially your daughter and sil. How delighted everyone must be to finally have him home! I’m so thankful to the Lord for all the medical advances that we have now especially in the NICU!

  6. Oh you live in a beautiful spot on earth. I have very much enjoyed seeing your beautiful photos and seeing your family. Thank you very much for visiting me and leaving a comment. I appreciated hearing more about the Fairacre series, which I have not been aware of before. I am now on the case trying to round them up!

  7. Oh those beach days!! Happy 10th Anniversary to your son and daughter in law–what adorable photos of them all!
My tomatoes were a major bust this year too. I’ve planted a fall crop of carrots and kale and lettuce. It will be yummy if the rabbits don’t eat them all!

    • Thank you Willow! we have a second crop of sugar snap peas that we’re enjoying. I intended to put more lettuce in but that didn’t happen . . . too much fun in August 🙂

How wonderful for you to get some more warm beach days. Your littles are all so darn cute. Those are great photos of all of them and the grown ups, too. My daughter in law makes the tastiest fresh cucumber salsa with her garden cukes and tomatoes. So fresh and good. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  10. Hi Kathie, I love your beach shots! Just glorious. I never made it to the beach (Northumberland coast) this summer which makes me sad as I so love walking along the water’s edge on a hot summer day or evening. Your family pics are so sweet. What adorable grandkids. Our garden only yielded enough beans for 2 meals before the deer got them. They ate the rest of the stuff except the onions! lol Have a lovely weekend. Pam

    • Hope you get some Sept Beach walking Pam – it’s still lovely! Sorry about the deer eating up your garden. That must be frustrating! Our dog who occasionally helps herself to our garden carrots and that’s frustrating enough!

    • So warm and humid – don’t you hope it breaks soon! This week coming looks much better. This kind of weather saps me. I promise to post the recipe for that soup soon – it’s easy!
