Hi there and welcome to Friday’s Blessing List. I took a few road trips this week – not very far mind you –  but who wants to go off the Island in October anyway? I had  my camera in hand, ready to capture Prince Edward Island’s golden autumn gala.  It won’t last much longer as we have a few blustery days coming up this weekend.

1.  As I promised last week, a trip to the central part of the Island – the New Glasgow hills.

I was a few days late – it’s hard to predict the peak.

Some trees had lost their leaves but overall the colour was still brilliant.

I love the rolling hills in this part of the island.

Oh hello to you too! 🙂

2. A woodsy walk with Sarah, Kathleen, Isaiah and Peter. (Josie missed the outing as she was in pre-school – how can that be possible??)

MacPhail Woods is a lovely place to walk any time of the year, but it’s pure magic in autumn.

Isaiah was in heaven!

running down the red dirt lane.

throwing sticks and stones in the brook, (mama’s keeping a firm grip),

balancing on logs – with just a little help.

Happy boy!

And Peter was happy too, all snug in his wrap, with Auntie Sarah.

3. We met a little friend in the woods – one who deserves her own spot in this week’s favourites.

Oh my goodness – I could have tucked her up under my arm and taken her home.

Please tell me why I don’t need a chocolate lab! I’m suffering a severe case of puppy love. ❤ Remind me we’re having twins and I don’t have time to train a puppy. Deep breath . . .  I may need an intervention! 😉 )

4.  Ahem! Moving on!!  Knox’s Dam. My childhood friends and I spent countless happy hours here, climbing the rocks, wading the streams, catching smelts by hand in springtime and skating on the pond in winter.

Knox’s Dam

It was also the spot where Roger and I had our first kiss 41 (or so) years ago! ❤

5. The Island’s narrow red clay roads are a photographer’s haven in autumn. (They’re also the bane of farmers in  spring and winter but enough of that!)

It’s rare to meet traffic here, but occasionally a farm truck will come along and then some  tricky vehicle maneuvers may be required. The roads are so lovely though – it’s worth the risk.

Walking along here, it’s not hard to imagine life a century ago.

I hope you enjoyed the Island’s autumn gala.

I have never seen such beautiful photos – you are an exceptional photographer.
Congratulations on the twins – our grandsons just turned four this summer. So much fun (and also a lot of work when they were babies, haha). But such great blessings.
I really like your blog — so positive and your quotes from “Anne” are the best.

You’re very kind Helen!! I live in such a photogenic place – it helps 🙂

I never realized how much work twin babies are!! But so much fun as well.

Wonderful glorious stunning colors, Kathie! I’m so glad you share their beauty with us who live a more limited color palette 😉 But oh, that puppy. Absolutely irresistible!

Oh my goodness – such incredible beauty! What sweet pictures of your darling grandson exploring and touching. I think I said “WOW” aloud at each of these pictures!

Sigh. Happy Sigh. I *heart* those photos of all the fall beauty!
Isaiah certainly looks happy. And yes, that chocolate lab puppy (I wonder if I could trick the Professor into letting me have one if I showed him those photos…)!

Did I just walk through Heaven? I think so!
I’m so glad you share with us, Kathie.

Wow – I smiled a lot looking at your photos. And I feel like I went on a nature walk with you and it was so refreshing. Thanks for sharing.

I know what you mean about needing a puppy intervention! I met a poodle mix puppy today and I was in love as well. I don’t have twins coming (twins? Congrats!), but I don’t really have enough time at home. Deep breaths and walk away.

    Have a great week.

That makes me happy to know my pictures made you smile Susan! And it also made me happy that you felt you were coming along with me – that’s really my hope when I take my pictures and write my post. So thank you!! Yes we’re having twins – my son and daughter in law – it won’t be long now! And oh my goodness that puppy – I went home and read how they shed a lot – that helped 😉

Absolutely stunning! Just amazing photos! And the chocolate lab puppy!!!! As I have my son’s 7 year old chocolate lab on my lap and my 8 year old yellow lab with his head on my knee!!!! They certainly make you smile and make you feel loved! Frustrated though when they inhale every apple they come across or chase the skunks. Thank you so very much for sharing. Stunning photos and beautiful family story.

Thanks Janice!! We still have our dog Sophie – but she’s 13 and a half. Getting pretty old but she’s been a good dog. I’ll have to think long and hard about what kind I’d like to get after her. But that chocolate lab puppy sure stole my heart. She was adorable 🙂

  11. What beautiful photos Kathie! The colours are outstanding and the pictures of your grands are so sweet. And that chocolate Lab puppy is adorable. I love those red dirt roads lined in golden and red colours. Wishing you a blessed week to come.

Thanks Pamela! Are you getting the same wind we’re having? The leaves won’t last much longer now.
